A Vision for ChangeKAIVALYA, a word with roots in Indian spiritual thought, literally means ‘freedom from a conditioned existence’. Drawing from this concept, Kaivalya Education Foundation (KEF) envisions liberation from the country’s problems by creating a generation of social change leaders who have the vision and courage to create large-scale sustainable impact at the grassroots.
Supported by Piramal FoundationFellowship has been supported from the very beginning by the Piramal Foundation. The Piramal Foundation is a private philanthropic foundation established in 2006. Through the pursuit of practical innovations for India's development, it aims to create replicable solutions to some of our nation's most pressing challenges. Its method is based on a belief that talented young people when challenged to address the country's most common development issues, will find innovative solutions that are relevant, cost effective, and applicable to the nation at large. Their primary areas of focus include democratizing healthcare, sustainable solutions and rural employability among other worthy causes. The foundation’s emphasis on engaging young people and finding systemic solutions for the delivery of quality education resonates with Kaivalya’s objectives.
The Piramal Foundation has been a key supporter of the Fellowship: funding the launch of the Fellowship in 2008, providing access to the organisational development and marketing experts that work with Piramal Healthcare and giving invaluable input on strategic questions.
KEF is given strategic insights and direction by an eminent board with a wealth of accumulated experience in institution building and management. The Board provides insights from the business, finance, education and social sectors to help the Foundation reach its stated objectives.
